Connection
Throughout a student’s school years, some connections persist, such family, close friends and neighbors, extended family, and the religious mentors.
Other connections constantly change, such the student’s teachers, counselors, coaches, classmates, and community friends.
Some connections are formed as needed, for child care, tutors, medical providers, therapists, and at times, behavioral health specialists, juvenile justice, child welfare, or substance abuse rehabilitation.
Throughout, all are focused on a common goal: the success of the child or youth.
Student1 applications allow these connections to be easily managed. By knowing the organization and role each person is fulfilling, communications and data sharing can be focused to be supportive, constructive, and reinforcing.

Make Data Work
Enabling the community of connections requires communication, collaboration and a sharing of knowledge and data.
All too often, it takes a lot of work to use data – so much so, that it limits its application and effectiveness. New techniques are needed to better communicate data in ways that are more succinct, easily understood, and encourage action, as follows:
All too often, it takes a lot of work to use data – so much so, that it limits its application and effectiveness. New techniques are needed to better communicate data in ways that are more succinct, easily understood, and encourage action, as follows:
- Support research and analytics by sharing private, de-identified data that the parents have opted-into.
- Create rapid-response linkages to analytics that inform, explain, and advise.
- Support audio, graphic, video, and animated media that help families and stakeholders make sense of data.
- Provide multi-lingual support to communicate with the family in their native language.
- Use data to notify students, parents, educators and service providers where attention is needed.
- Integrate data use into training and professional development.
