Partnering for Impact
Student1 works with a variety of state and local agencies and organizations to address the gnarly data sharing problems that arise from important and necessary cross-agency collaborations. Our projects include:
- multi-agency statewide longitudinal data systems
- integrated early childhood data systems
- family communication and engagement tools
- data sharing, privacy, and consent apps
Partnering for Data Standards
Through our work with the Michael & Susan Dell Foundation, the Ed-Fi® standard was born. Ed-Fi® adoption is rapidly growing nationally. Today, the Ed-Fi® technologies support data sharing within privacy constraints using an API for interoperability.
We are proud licensees of the Ed-Fi® technologies and foundational contributors to the Ed-Fi® community. The Ed-Fi® base of experience provides the launching point for the Student1 technical direction and strategic plan.
Student1 is also pioneering applications of blockchain technology to manage guardianship and consent for student services, including developing a supporting data standard. As a recipient of the American Council on Education's (ACE) Blockchain Innovation Challenge Award, we were proud to partner with the Nebraska Department of Education on an initiative to modernize the process of obtaining and managing guardian consent and approval for services. Partner Highlights
These projects are making big impacts in our partners' communities.
- YES Prep Public Schools' Family Engagement Portal. Based on Ed-Fi®, the YES Prep Family Engagement Portal provides parents with actionable information about their student's performance and includes a way to chat with educators in their native language. This effort has been highlighted by the Michael & Susan Dell Foundation and the Data Quality Campaign.
- Nebraska Child Care Referral Network. In 2020, when faced with shifting child care needs and availability, Nebraska created the Nebraska Child Care Referral Network (CCRN) designed to link parents with child care openings in their area. Created through a public-private partnership and now supported through federal CARES funding, CCRN allows child care providers to update their availability by age range and indicate whether they provide specific student services. The effort was covered by multiple news outlets, including the Omaha World-Herald (April 20, 2020).
We welcome new collaborations regarding our passion for a "one student focus".
